Aion gathering skill guide
Aion is not all about farming mobs; there are other stuff for you left to discover! One of them is the gathering skill. In this MMORPG, you can collect plants, rocks, etc.
Why should you bother gathering plants or minerals in aion ?
When you gather, you level of skill gathering increases so you will be able to collect more useful stuff as your level increases. You can get alchemy as a profession and make potions with the herbs you collect or cooking and make lots of food to eat and get some extra-buffs. You can also get other professions because they are all related. It depends mostly on the class you are and what's helpful for you. 
Another good thing about gathering is the fact that you can sell them in case you are short on money. Also, some quests require certain plants or minerals to be delivered to a certain NPC and if you have the gathering skill you can complete the quest easier. Besides, some of us get bored of too much farm and collecting plants from time to time makes the gameplay more interactive! 
The things that you collect will be put in your inventory. There is a chance when you collect a plant/mineral to get it standard or to get something better. It depends on what you gather. Usually minerals have more stages: Normal mineral / Greater mineral / Pure mineral / Brilliant mineral and the plants are: standard or fresh. One fresh plant can be transformed into 3 standard plants and so are the minerals.
1 Brilliant minerals -> 3 Pure
1 Pure -> 3 Greater
1 Greater -> 3 Standard
Always, no matter what you are gathering, you will see a little box like this:
It represents what you are gathering and it shows you the chance of success or failure. Sometimes when you are gathering an item close to your level, you might fail.
Aethertapping is also related to gathering, with this skill you can gather the vortex power. How to find a vortex and extract ? Usually vortexes appear in the sky so you will probably have to fly, but most of the time they are in safe zones (at least the low vortexes). This is how a vortex looks like!
